List
items to store, room by room. |
Mark
any that can be disassembled to save storage room. Check you have the
necessary tools for disassembly to hand. Mark items that can go at the
bottom in storage, & those that are fragile. |

Evaluate
your list to arrange insurance. |

|
|
Keep
important papers & keys apart. |
Start
a file, to be kept in a special place, for all essentials, eg passports,
holiday tickets, quotations, estate agent & solicitors stuff. |

|
|
Start
getting your packing materials. |
We
have boxes, bubble-wrap & cling-film available. Drawers can be used to
store clothes, but remember you have to lift them. |
|
|
|
Store
china in smaller strong boxes. |
Heavy/fragile
items can be split up into smaller boxes, bubble-wrapped or separated with
tissue & scrunched paper. If it's not used daily, start packing early. |

|
|
Fridges/freezers
- defrost & drain |
Two
or 3 weeks before the move, start running down your freezer stock. Defrost
early & thoroughly dry (leave door open). |

|
|
Clean
& pack garden furniture & tools, loft spaces, shed stuff &
none essentials. |
If
you're storing any petrol powered equipment, make sure the tanks are
empty. Label everything carefully as you go along. Keep a
"master" list of boxes or the no. of items. |

|
Use
dust covers. Make sure you have enough to hand. |
Cover
suites, table tops, mattresses with dust covers. Wrap table legs, lamp
stands. |

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Moving
Check-List - things to arrange in advance:
1. Send change of address notes.
2. Transfer Contents insurance for Move day.
3. Arrange "post" re-direct from Move day.
4. Arrange final readings Gas, Electric, Water
(or
note yourself on Move day).
5. Cancel papers, milk, windows.
6. Double check booking with removal firm.
7. Keep all jewelry, valuables with you.
8. Leave instructions for new buyer as to how heating works,
where stop
tap is
and any other helpful information.
9. On Move day, leave pet/s & children with a friend (pre-arrange).
